The ‘Aura’ of the Maurienne region
Come enhance the biggest Land’Art solidarity-based art creation in the world in Savoy.
Next to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, on the hillside, come and discover 5,000m² and 42,000 similar tin foil disks, in the shape of halos called ‘auras’ that everyone can customize with a drawing, a text or a poem. Solid’Art was created in 1993 and conceived a piece of art that represents the 42,000 inhabitants of this valley where aluminum was invented. This solidarity-based project is originally an insertion workshop that gave 150 people a job. The Aura was inaugurated in September 2007. Since then, artists from all around the world have engraved texts and drawings on the halos, which have become a true wealth of the Maurienne region’s heritage.
