In Vilafranca, wine and gastronomy go hand in hand and constitute a true image of the generosity of our land. The Black Rooster of the Penedès is the true actor of Vilafranca’s gastronomy. The most traditional poultry recipes, as well as the most innovative ones can be tasted in the various restaurants of the city. Other typical dish of the Penedès, related in this case with the wine world is the xató, an escarole salad and desalted cod covered with a special sauce... the secret of the dish!
Vilafranca’s gastronomy does not forget the land’s products, the sponge cakes and the Catànies, a delicious almond covered with caramel and cocoa powder.
