Camillo's Castle

The castle of Grinzane is an imposing squared building, with a high tower, whose origins date back to the 13th century. In 1832, it came to be run by Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, a leading figure in the Italian unification process; while living here Cavour introduced new techniques in agriculture and winemaking.
The current appearance of the building depends on restoration works begun in 1961 for the Italian unification Centennial. Two museums (memorabilia, ehtnographic) can be visited. Cavour's personal room can be visited, too.
