The relation between the wine and the region of Penedes goes back to the fourth century BC
The Wine Museum is home to two plates of stone from the pre-Roman era to demonstrate the antiquity of the passion for viticulture. Passion and culture that lasted the Roman rule, the Visigoth and Muslim era. However, the real boom in wine comes from the eighteenth century, when Waitara was developed urban and economically.
The department stores came from the nineteenth century were located along the route and in front of the railway station. When in April 15, 1865, a locomotive crossed Vilafranca for the first time, began a new phase for the wine trade.
